Leonie and Kyle still got to have their dream day despite record torrential rain.

They were very organised and started planning their wedding nearly 2 years in advance. With lots of children in the immediate family that they wanted to be there to help them celebrate their wedding, their natural tendency was to go with a daytime outdoor casual wedding.

After coming across The Secret Garden through a Google search, they booked in for a garden tour in October 2020.

As with so many couples that see the wisteria arbour and the surrounding space, they knew it would be perfect for what they were envisaging. Which was a small intimate gathering with casual drinks and street food style meal under the arbour. They could also see the potential for the lawn spaces either side for games to keep the children amused.

They booked as soon as they saw the space and started organising all the particulars.

When Leonie fell pregnant in 2021 and realised she would have to be organising a wedding with a 10 week old, she engaged Jess from Planned by Page to take over coordination and see that everything went well on the day. A second visit with Jess in late 2021 finalised all the details and all that was necessary when was fine weather.

Unfortunately, the first three months of 2022 saw record braking rain throughout the Southern Highlands, and another east coast low was predicted to hit the day before their wedding day.

So, marquees were ordered, and wet weather contingencies enacted. Having a wet weather plan in place truly is key if you want to hold an outdoor wedding!

a separate marquee set up for the games

The champions from Ace Party Hire put up marquees in the torrential rain the day before and all the other vendors donned their gumboots on the day to do a magnificent set-up for the couple.

Jess was a sight to be seen in her wet weather gear directing everyone and making sure everything run to the time schedule.

With the ceremony in the Fountain Garden and marquees either side of the Wisteria Arbour, even though it rained on and off all day the couple and their guests were still able to enjoy a beautiful and relaxing day in the garden.

As always, we wish Leonie and Kyle all the best for their future together.
