“Your gardens were the perfect backdrop for our autumn/winter wedding. We couldn’t have been happier!”
Aimee, June 2019

Getting married outdoors in winter in the Southern Highlands is not what most couples would think of, but for Aimee and Peterus it was perfect – they really wanted to say their vows in a natural setting that was able to create an elegant yet informal day.

Woodland themes work so well in winter. Aimee and Peterus loved the idea of moody tree trunks, leaf covered ground, deep colours and winter light, which they found at The Secret Garden and they all combined to create a stunning setting and produce the most awesome photos.

The day turned out to be sunny, though cool, and the afternoon sun filtering through the trees created a magical woodland feel for their ceremony.

Aimee, who was escorted to the ceremony by her son, wore a gorgeous dress with a full train and carried a beautiful bouquet of burgundy-themed flowers. It combined perfectly with the groom’s classic mid-grey suit. The bride added a lovely fur stole to her outfit that added texture and interest to the photos whilst keeping her warm and playing into the winter theme.

The couple married under the most gorgeous floral arch created by Heart and Soul Flowers. There is never any doubt that flowers are the heroes of any floral installation and I love the bold colours of the flowers in this beautiful arbour arrangement. However, the foliage, a combination of three different eucalyptus varieties, the plum of loropetalum and the architectural twisted hazel, complement this arrangement beautifully and gave the whole arrangement a unique and interesting feel whilst making the bold colours of the flowers really pop. Being able to source these flowers from The Secret Garden was a real bonus for both the bride and their florist.

After the ceremony, the couple spent time with their photographer getting some beautiful and unique photos of their wedding day before heading off to the Robertson Public House and Kitchen for their reception with roaring fires, great food and plenty of celebrating with friends and family.

Despite everyone telling the couple they were mad to attempt an outdoor wedding in the southern highlands in June, they had their dream woodland ceremony underneath the trees in The Secret Garden with beautiful late afternoon sunlight filtering through to create a most magical and memorable day for them. We wish Aimee and Peterus the joy of married life for all their days, and thank you for sharing your special day with The Secret Garden.
