Melia and Joseph had the hardest of  times trying to organise their wedding. Their first wedding was cancelled due to the 2020 lockdown and their second when their venue closed in 2021. After this it they decided it would be simpler to do a DIY outdoor wedding.

For me, it was a special moment when I received a request from Melia to come and visit the garden hoping it would accommodate what she had envisage  for her wedding day. Melia’s father, Cyril, had worked in the garden for many years and was the architect behind most of the brickwork in the Fountain Garden, Vegetable Garden and Megan’s Garden. This special connection was important for Melia, and for me it was wonderful to see Cyril again and allow him to see how all his hard work had settled in and to see how the gardens looked with 15 years of maturity behind them.

The lead up to the wedding required the couple to have a huge amount of patience, having to deal with vendors cancelling last minute, local road closures, soggy wet ground from record rainfalls, and more predicted for the day, along with cold temperatures. The day topped out at just 13 degrees. Brrrrrrr!

Melia and Joseph booked the full day Marquee Package and engaged Show Pony Events to install a large marquee so there would be plenty of room for both the ceremony and reception in case of inclement weather.

They had their heart set of a ceremony in the gazebo but when the morning dawned with rain and with further falls predicted on and off all day it was decided to set up the ceremony space in the marquee.

With a beautiful back drop of the lake, gazebo, and the surrounding trees, it wasn’t a bad alternative.

Heaters were hired and throw rugs purchased and with a coffee van part of the arrangement for the day, it ensured guests were able to keep warm.

Umbrellas, bar tables and stools, along with lawn games, were set up on the either side of the arbour where guests could relax.

The cancellations and hiccups leading up to their big day were very stressful, but in the end what is important is the fact that they were married and able to celebrate their day with friends and family.

We wish Melia and Joseph all the best for their future together and thank them for the privilege of being part of their wedding day.
