It was such a delight to be included in Aniqa and Tanims Hindu Mehndi wedding ceremonies.

Organising a wedding during a pandemic was never going to be easy and with various parts of the celebration already organised at other venues in the Southern Highlands and Illawarra Aniqa was looking for somewhere outdoors where she could hold the mehndi part of her wedding.

Hindu weddings consists of a series of independent rituals, each of which has a deep religious and spiritual significance.

They start a few days before the wedding day and are lively, fun, and full of colour.

Traditionally the Mehndi Ceremony is where the bride and close female family and friends adorn their hands and feet with intricate henna patterns followed by feasting and dancing.

Aniqa wanted a relaxed and casual daytime picnic-like event for her Mehndi celebrations.

Friends and family were enlisted to set up and decorate the garden. The area under the Arbour was set up with tables for food and the lawn areas either side were set up with chairs, umbrellas, games and picnic rugs and cushions.

Once the henna had been applied, guests enjoyed a lovely casual buffet of delicious traditional food and then participated in the afternoon activities of games and dancing.

The day, though overcast, was warm and dry which was simply perfect for the day’s festivities.

The bride and groom, and their guests, continued on to further celebrations that evening and the following day.

We wish Aniqa and Tanim all the best for their future together and thank them for allowing us to be a part of their wedding celebrations.
