Given all the uncertainty around trying to organise a wedding during covid over the last few years, Courtney and James decided that an elopement was the best option for them.
An elopement just suited what they really wanted – no fuss, no bother, allowing them to concentrate on what was important to them – actually getting married!
Planning an elopement meant they could bring it all together very quickly and from first inquires to the big day was only a couple of months.
They settled on a date in late May to avoid the heat, and hopefully not be too late to find some beautiful autumn foliage for their photos.
They wanted just themselves, a couple of friends and their two children. Obviously, they needed a celebrant and a photographer. Then all that was left to do was find a venue that would suit what they had in mind for their elopement.
Ideally, they wanted a garden space that was peaceful and private. Our elopement package allows for 3 hours in the garden which is plenty of time for a ceremony, photos and a celebratory drink and nibbles.
They were completely sold on The Secret Garden as soon as they saw it. With its privacy, lots of gorgeous spots for photos and several intimate spaces for a small ceremony, it had everything they wanted.
Their big day brought bright sunshine and a balmy 19 to 20 degrees, which was such a relief after all the cold wet days earlier in May.
Without all the complications of organising a big wedding, the day was just about them, so all involved spent a relaxing day enjoying getting ready. It gave time for the bride and her attendants to make their own bouquets, whilst the groom and groomsmen organised the refreshments.
The groomsmen arrived prepared with chilled bottles of champagne ready to toast the happy couple as soon as all the legalities were completed.
As with all our couples, we wish Courtney and James all the best for their future together.
