I have a bit of a thing about daffodils. I think they are one of the happiest flowers there is and the fact that they flower at the end of winter and herald the start of spring makes them a must-have in any cool climate garden. Here at The Secret Garden we grow thousands of daffodils and have them in flower from July through to mid-September, particularly through the Birch Walk.
Daffodils make the perfect wedding flower for a late winter or early spring wedding.

They are a very seasonal flower in Australia, but the market is geared up to provide plenty of daffodils for the cancer council main fundraiser Daffodil Day, so they are in plentiful supply and cheap during August and the beginning of September.
They are not a common wedding flower here in Australia, but I would like to see them used more in weddings.
Why use Daffodils for your Wedding Day?
- They are such a happy flower and weddings are happy occasions so they complement each other perfectly.
- They brighten a room or an outfit or a ceremony setting better than any other flower can.
- When in season, they are plentiful and cheap.
- As they are grown in Australia in open fields they are much more sustainable than glasshouse produced or imported flowers.

The Cake- Any good cake decorator will be able to make icing daffodils for your cake decoration or use fresh either large or miniature daffodils- just be sure the florist wraps and arranges them in a way that the sap from them does not contaminate the cake.
