Carly and Andrew came to look at The Secret Garden in the spring of 2017. They had seen pictures from a photoshoot that Kay, from Inspire love wedding and events, had done in the garden earlier in the year and had loved both the styling and location.

Carly’s wish was to get married in a beautiful garden setting and wanted to know when the garden was at its prettiest.

Such a hard question!

Being a cool climate garden, spring is certainly when the garden is at its best, but it changes constantly from mid-September through to Christmas, with different things flowering every few weeks.

But I have to say that one of my favourite times, and certainly a very pretty time of the year, is when the crabapples are in bloom, so I suggested late September or early October date.

From here the couple went away to organise a day when all their preferred vendors (reception venue, celebrant photography and stylist) were available and came back to me with the 30th of September as a date that suited everyone.

It was a Sunday but as it was the long weekend it made getting their preferred vendors easy and there was still a day for everyone to recover or travel.

It was an intimate wedding of around 30 quests, so Carly and Andrew chose the fountain garden in which to hold the ceremony. It is a lovely small space, ideal for smaller gatherings and has a magical backdrop of large trees, formal hedging and a bubbling fountain.

It was a beautiful warm day with a cloudless sky and to the delight of all the guests and the couple, the crab apples were in fun bloom and stunning.

The photographer was able to take some beautiful shots in the garden and in the surrounding countryside before everyone made the quick 5 min drive up the hill to the Burrawang pub for what looked like a wonderful evening of fabulous food, fun and dancing.
