Being nature lovers and with a young family, Sam and Zoe envisage their wedding day in a garden surrounded by their family and friends. When they came to The Secret Garden, they felt The Wisteria Arbour would be perfect for a casual lunch with the space and lawn either side for the children to run around on and play lawn games.
Mother nature intervened somewhat and with a forecast of heavy rain on the day, they put their wet weather plan into action and had a pagoda-type marquee installed adjacent to the arbour. Due to unprecedented demand, no flooring was available, but this did not bother Sam. He just went out and purchased the material to build and install a floor to ensure their guests were comfortable.
There were a couple of things that made San and Zoe’s day both unique and special to them. Firstly, they were accompanied by their children. With their son being Sam’s “best man” and their two daughters being Zoe’s “Bridesmaids/flower girls”.
The other was including a tree planting ceremony into their vows.
A tree planting ceremony traditionally symbolises the start of a marriage – starting out small and growing as the couple’s relationship grows. Like trees, marriages must face many storms and trials. Surviving what the world throws at them makes them stronger and more beautiful just like a good relationship.
As Zoe and Sam were getting married at The Secret Garden, they chose to plant their tree in a pot to take home with them until they find their forever home where they can plant it and watch it flourish.
They held their ceremony in The Fountain Garden with the arbour decorated beautifully by Bec for Lily Ever After Florist.
The ceremony was conducted by Katie jones-Watson and both Zoe and Sam arrived in style in 1950 Mark 5 jaguars.
They will be forever grateful that the rain held off until after the ceremony and initial photos, after which the happy couple and their guest moved over to the marquee to continue the celebrations with a delicious grazing table followed by shared platters of food provided by Tenille and Tara from Vegan Weddings and Events. Tenille also provided their stunning cake.
As always, we with Zoe and Sam, and their family, all the best for their future together.
