Jon and Gail were determined to have an autumn wedding for two reasons; one, they love autumn colour the cool climate of the highlands produces, and two, they did not want to be dressed up in their finery in hot weather.

Wanting a simple ceremony and casual reception, they booked The Arbour Small Wedding Package.

They decide May would be the month to get married, and after conferring with vendors the 8th came out as the most suitable date.

It turned out to be Mother’s Day, but what better Mother’s Day gift than to see your son or daughter married, in a beautiful setting followed by a relaxed reception. What a way to spend the day.

The couple got their wish with a bright cool day and plenty of gorgeous autumn colour in the garden. After so many rainy weddings it was such a delight to wake up and set up on a clear, cool but dry day.

The arbour was decorated beautifully by Taylor Made Bouquets with a stunning arch in gorgeous autumn tones. These looked gorgeous against the crisp white of the gazebo.

Gail and her daughters arrived in a vintage jaguar supplied by Southern Highlands Classic Wedding Cars and made the slow walk down the Cherry Walk to emerge onto the path to the Gazebo.

Jon waited for them in front of the Gazebo where they exchanged vows before signing paperwork at our vintage desk and chairs inside the gazebo.

Lunch was very casual and prepared and served, under The Arbour, by the guys from Shared Affair. With hot and cold canapes and a sumptuous grazing table and bar, guests had plenty to eat and drink.

The cake was supplied by Cooked by Julia and was a delicious Red Velvet with a chocolate butter cream in the middle and pink butter cream on the outside with gold trim on raised edges on the bottom tier and patches of gold leaf scattered across the top tier.

The bride and groom, and their guests, spent a relaxed afternoon on The Rose Lawn and celebrated their big day in style.

As with all our couples, we wish Jon and Gail all the best for their future together.
