Whilst you might think in the depths of winter there would be nothing to pick from the garden, here at The Secret garden we have flowers blooming all year.
Take this wonderful little posy- made up of Jonquil- paperwhites, which flower from May through till August, mauve pincushion (Scabiosa caucasica) which are in flower most of the year, Sweet Alyssum (lobularia maritima) again in flower most of the year, purple wall flower (Erysium “Bowles’s mauve”) which flowers form late autumn to late spring.
Put them together and they make the loveliest of bouquets, beautiful and bright, but delicate and the jonquils add the most exquisite perfume.
Can you see yourself holding this delightful little bouquet or what a lovely way to brighten up your home on these bleak, cold winter days?
These are all easy to grow annual and perennial plants, which take up very little room so would be perfect for small gardens pots on balconies or mass planted in a bigger garden.
But if you are not into growing your own flowers try and source some locally as using in season local cut flower is such a great way to celebrate any event and is much better for the environment then imported product.
Love sharing my flowers with you.
