We were delighted to welcome Aofie and Chris into The Secret Garden for their beautiful Wisteria Arbour Wedding in October in the Southern Highlands, a particularly special time of year.

Aoife and Chris came to view the garden in early September after seeing pictures of our Wisteria Arbour in flower last year. While we can never guarantee when things will be in flower, early October does usually see the Wisteria Arbour just starting to bloom. This year I think it was more advanced than normal, so Aoife and Chris were delighted that they could get married beneath the purple blooms.

The arbour is only 3.5meters wide, which can be a bit narrow for chairs and an aisle. After much deliberation with the bridal party, Aoife can up with an arrangement where guest seats were placed in the lower half of the arbour, with single chairs for the bridal party at the other end where the groom was waiting. This left space for her to enter the arbour from the side. It all worked beautifully and the pictures of the happy couple saying their vows under the long trusses of purple flowers of the wisteria are stunning.

No need for floral arrangements here. The Wisteria covered arbour makes for a spectacular setting in which to say your vows.

The ceremony was conducted by local Robertson celebrant Lynda Leith from Celebrate the Love.

Being Irish, Aoife included a Handfasting ceremony, which is a Celtic tradition usually done during a wedding ceremony. Completed with handmade plaited ribbon, it added a touch from “home” to help with the fact that much of Aoife’s family were unable to attend due to Covid-19.

The couple and their guests then spent a relaxing couple of hours in the garden celebrating with a few drinks, while their photographer Joey from Joey Andres Photo captured some beautiful images across the garden grounds. One of the best parts of getting married at The Secret Garden is that no two images are ever the same – the garden changes so much throughout the year and there are so many spots to get photos taken that your photos will always be completely unique.

As a back drop for the signing of paperwork, the wisteria is stunning.

The happy couple and their guests continued their celebrations with a reception at The Robertson Public house and Kitchen. https://robertsonpublichouse.com.au/services/weddings/

We wish Aoife and Chris, and their beautiful children, all the best for the future and a long and happy life together.

The Secret Garden Team.
